Final Project - Initial Ideas

Theme: Justice

Traditional Media: Performance Art

New Media: Video/Editing

For my final project, I am tempted to do a continuation of my Blank Assignment—integrating performance, video, as well as elements of the stop-motion project. I am excited for the theme of Justice, as social justice and education is something I am passionate about, as well as the fact that I can integrate what I have been learning in our Diversity and Equity class. I’d like to make commentary on issues affecting Latinx communities in the US, particularly those of deportation, displacement, and/or environmentalism.

I’d like to also utilize the stop-motion format, but do it in color and with more frames than I did in the Blank Assignment so that it reads as less stop motion, and more video. I’d like to challenge myself to sync up audio including music and voiceover/song to the video, rather than just using music and sound effects like I did in my previous video/stop-motion assignments.

I have a lot of experience with editing videos, however, I’d like to lean more into more complex video editing.
